Why our India can never be a developed nation?

Why the Indian subcontinent can never develop is the question which strikes many a young mind.But its just a passing thought in many our lives without any serious implications and soul searching done on the issue.have any of you Indians thought why we are not able to develop as a nation though many indivuals continue to grow rich and rich by the day.
Many of us would cite the reason that we are just about 57 years old nation.how could we possibly develop in such a short span.common guys lets not forget Japan,Germany China. Japan and germany were literally reduced to ashes during the world war 2 around the time India won her Independence.China was such a backward nation which has now grown into a superpower of such great status that not even the invincible US or the great European Union can utter a word against china.America had enough reasons to aatack a poor nation like Iraq twice because it thought of Iraq as expansionist.What about China's deeds in Tibet and its ambitions to take over Taiwan?America knows it cant wage a war against China for many reasons.
My basic point of citing the above examples is that all these nations and India started afresh at the same time,but we have long lost the race.Infact I may say that now we cant think of even competing against them.We were and we will remain a "Developing nation" till ages.
Why I am being so pessimist many would ask.But I am just being practical.To start with our civilization is now so ingrained with the slave mentallity that we don't even trust our senses untill ofcourse it is westernised.We epitomise the west blindly forgeting the roots.We are a confused race at present.We belong to nowhere and we seem to be going no where.The slave mentallity and the indivual development attitude has led to our country being conquered many a times .I forsee a chinese invasion not very far away,not in the terms of literal warfare but with the economic warfare.
Today even if Indian would be driving around a Mercedes and would keep his surroundings clean and promote his people,but the moment he gets out of his shell he would spit or dirty the surroundings not belonging to him.Thats our mentallity.As long as its not mine i don't care.Wake up guys its someone's who belongs to the same nation as yours.We have being fed with the crab mentallity.The caste system and gender bias though may not be seen today on a larger scale,but it does have its undertones stronger than it ever was.The mentallity stays.how can we help ?Its all in the genes.this provides a strong basis for crab mentallity.If one person goes up in the social ladder there are n number to get him down.Worse still the person at the top wouldn't like to get his fellow mates up there instead he would prefer to bask in his own glory.We have to go by the Japanese principles of collective efforts and high discipline before we could even think of development.There is bias every where,there is negativity everywhere.Why are we being so happy at a few new jobs created owing to the business outsourcing or few new multiplexes coming up in the city.Thats not where the India resides.Still India comprises of 70% agragrian community.They were poor and illiterate and will remain so because there is a concious efforts by our democratically elected leaders to keep them that way for thir own benefits.
We also have the great middle class which is supposed to be the backbone of any economy.But the middle class is being fed with the fear mentallity.You have to be a engineer or doctor.You don't need to react at many things in the society you see.
Untill we get out of these mentallaties and work and play as a race there would be no stopping to the Indian sub continent. i have just one dream and that of seeing my country in the superpower corridors of the world in this life time
